kingdom: a country that has a king (or queen)

Ever since I can remember my teachers in school have taught me that kings are a bad thing.

"All kings lead to tyranny.  That's why George Washington refused to be king!"

In Primary I was taught the same thing.

"All kings lead to tyranny.  That's why Mosiah decided to do the whole 'judges' thing"

And so that's why I've always assumed that everyone else thought that kings were bad too.  I figured that they too have been taught or simply have inferred that having some kind of royalty will eventually lead to the nation's utter destruction.

But people don't think like that so much here.  They know that there has been corruption because of it.  They know that not everything that the kings or queens of old did was great.  But they aren't thought of as the bad guys.

I never really thought of it in this way, but the American Revolutionary War was made up of a bunch of rebels that didn't want to listen to the authority anymore.
