This week has been pretty full of some pretty funny stories.
The other day, Elder Rood of my district was taking forever in the bathroom and we all had to wait for him to finish before we could head to the next thing we were going to do. So the other four Elders in my district went over to the bathroom door and knocked on it. My companion and I were still sitting in our classroom when we heard from the hallway, "Leera el Libro de Mormon?" (Will you read the Book of Mormon?) We go went out into the hall to see Elders Te'o, Hendrickson, and Wallace with their faces plastered to the door of the bathroom contacting Elder Rood and committing him to read the Book of Mormon whilst he is using the bathroom. It was so hilarious. We could hear Elder Rood from inside, "No! No!" They came back to report that he wouldn't commit to which Hermano Mortimer replied, "Claro! Es preocupado!" (Of course, he's busy!) Anyway, it has now become a tradition, that if you're taking too long, you will be found...
Another great thing that we did as a district this week was a Jr. vs. Sr. companion basketball game during gym. It was such a blast. By the end of it we were so worn out that we could hardly breathe, both from laughing so hard and running around after doing basically sitting all day long everyday. I even made a couple of baskets, which is a miracle on my part because I'm so horrible at basketball. We all decided that we want to play a district game once a week or something. We have bonded a lot in the last couple of weeks and it has been so great. Some days we are all laughing so hard that we can hardly contain ourselves, like the time that i accidentally hit Elder Rood in the eye with the hot potato ball....I assure you, he's not going to let me forget it anytime soon!
General Conference is obviously coming up and everyone is pretty excited. I think that it's going to be great. I've never had the chance to watch conference when I'm this in tune with the spirit, so i know that I'll get so much out of it. I love to hear the words of the Prophet and Apostles. They speak with such power! Awesome!
My companion and I taught in Espanol again yesterday, which is always really great. We taught the first lesson again. We decided to start with a song, "Soy un hijo de Dios." (I am a child of God) It was amazing what a difference it made in our lesson. It helped me to focus so much on what she needed and how important it is to help everyone to know that they are a child of God. It's always pretty cool when you can feel the Spirit and you follow it and everything turns out so awesome. There was a point in the lesson that i received the impression to jump to a certain part of the lesson. I looked to my companion to giver her the eye of " I just got a prompting and need to go with it" when she said the EXACT words I was about to say. I tell you, it was such a testimony builder to me of how important it is to be in tune with the spirit. The the lady was asking about how the people would've rejected the apostles if the catholic church had Peter as the first pope. For a minute we tried to explain, but I could tell that we weren't going to go anywhere but a circle. So I said "We don't' know, but could we go home, research it, and come back another time and answer your question?" It was the perfect thing for her.
I know the church is true and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God! I love this work and I haven't even started teaching people who haven't heard the gospel yet.
I love you all!
Love Hermana Cooper
