Hola Familia!
Como estan? I hope everybody is rocking their lives. I never know what to say in emails. Our lives are so different, but mine just feels like normal now.
Kyle, I know what you mean by the mean husband controlling his wife. I'd say "Welcome to Ecuador" but I guess it's the same in Brazil too. It's really sad and I don't get why so many women around here choose such hard hearted guys?
So I had a really crazy dream the other night. I don't know why, but since I've been a missionary I've had crazier dreams than i ever had in my life. My companion and I were walking down this street that we walk down a lot and at the end of the hill (everywhere in Quito is a hill) there were these black gorilla men. She shouted "Watch out for the indigenous!" and the gorilla men started coming after us and these two random Elders that had no identity started fighting them off. Then we went to the bishop's house and they were making sea food and they sent me to the market to get some giant squid. I was awesome.
We had a family we've been teaching call us this week and tell us they didn't want us to come around anymore because they had a hard time accepting the B of M. It was really sad and I almost wanted to cry when I heard my companion talking to them. I don't get why people won't just pray and ask God. It's only logical.
Nothing extremely exciting happened this week. I got my censo (visa) so I'm no longer an illigal person in Ecuador. We found a Baskin Robbins and indulged on the normal ice cream (the ice cream here is weird and the milk makes me sick to my stomach. It' so nasty). We got in a taxi and the guy had no clue where he was going and drove us all around until we decided to just get out and take the bus. I had countless adventures on the crazy buses they have here, most of which I'll have to tell you about when I get home and am able to act it out.
We did find a really stellar family. The husband has been looking for a job for four years and the wife just lost her job two weeks ago. They are so ready for the gospel. They flat out told us that they don't like how the Catholic church is just about tradition, that they don't even understand who it is they worship and that if they find that The Church of Jesus Christ is true, they'll get baptized. Luckily, it is true, so we don't have to worry that much about it.
It's so good to hear from everybody. It means alot, so don't stop writing!
Love Hna Cooper
